Despite Drug Violence In Mexico, Cancun Still Holds Top Spot For Spring Break

Although Mexican tourism has been affected by the drug related violence, this has not stopped many spring breakers from their vacation plans to Cancun.

The pristine weather conditions, turquoise waters, flowing drinks, and low prices were hard to resist for many travelers this spring. Cancun is one location in Mexico which has remained untouched for the most part in relation to the ongoing drug war. It is advised that tourists do not leave the premises of their resort at night.

The drug related violence is not the only factor keeping Americans away from visiting Mexico. Finances are also to blame; which lead to a 4% drop in American tourists visiting Mexico in 2011.

Tourists should always take the upmost precautions while traveling abroad regardless of the scale of violence in the country they visit. Always travel with a large group, and avoid exploring the areas at night.
